You want to know how we perform exterior painting??.. Well this is how we do it!

Pressure washer.- Apply power washer to all the surfaces to be painted. Next, we wait until the surfaces are completly dry before performing any other activity.
Caulking.- We Caulk those ugly gaps between boards and previously caulked areas where the caulk is failing. We inspect those old calk areas and if needed we remove it and caulk them back.
Scrapping.- Those areas with loose or peeling paint are completely scraped. Commonly we find this areas in the windows sills and door frames.
Sanding.- This is a complement step after scraping which allow us to get smooth surfaces to paint.
Covering.-This is the point in which we care about maintaining the surrounding clean. WE protect the windows, doors, light fixtures, etc., using plastic and tape. Decks and ground level surfaces are covered with drop clothes.
Priming Wood.- In order to get the best result, we prime those bare woods so the paint can have where to “bite” into. The right way to prime is using oil-based primer. The oil-based sticks into the wood’s pores and block water infiltration. When it’s not possible to apply oil-based, we can apply latex primer.

PREPARING THE EXTERIOR AREA

There are different ways to apply the top coat, choosing the right one is basically depending on the specific situation. We can do it by brush and roll, Airless spray or a combination of both. Of course if the costumer has a preference we can move forward based on it. Applying it by airless spray it’s faster and saturates completely the surfaces but takes time to masking off the areas to prevent overspray. Doing it by brush and roll is better when there are too many places to masking off. We combine both option for especial porous substrates by rolling and brushing after the airless spray so the paint gets pushed back into the wood fibers.

Before painting the PaintMaster checks the surfaces to corroborate there is no moisture on it. If so we might need to wait until the moisture goes away or we can use our tools to speed the drying process.
PaintMaster applies the first coat of paint. If we’re using the same previous color, one coat is enough to get good results. If we’re using a different color or if it’s painted for the first time, we apply two coats of paint to meet the best results. We use Sherwin Williams premium paint in our focusing on exceeding our customers expectative.

Now it’s time to apply the final coat

Cleaning and Walking around.

The final stage of our job is to clean up and walk around the house to corroborate we did it right. All the lawn and deck furniture is placed back to where it belong to, we clean the possible stray paint chips and touch up the areas might need it.

Finally we present our job to the customer.

If there are specific request from the customer, we can keep constant communication during the process in which case the foreman is the person in contact.
