WHAT IS POWER WASHING ?

   Pressure washing or power washing is the use of high-pressure water spray to remove loose paint, mold, grime, dust, mud, chewing gum from surfaces and objects such as buildings, vehicles and concrete surfaces. The volume of a mechanical pressure washer is expressed in gallons or litres per minute, often designed into the pump and not variable. Machines se use produce pressures from 750 to 4,000 psi or more are available.

Now days homeowners buy their own pressure washer trying to clean their own projects. Most customer buys their pressure washer at 1600 PSI and 1.5GPM. The problem becomes when the need to reach tall places is required or when it’s used with the wrong spray tip permanently damaging certain surfaces. We have more than 10 years of experience doing this kind of services, investing on equipment to tackle different kind of circumstances.

Uses

Spray tips used for pressure washing

     There are four basic spray tips, each one is designed to attack different type of surfaces. Choosing the right one is the first key to perform right the job. The spray tips are set by 0, 15, 25 and 40 degrees. Each one defines the amount of pressure and GPM of water is delivered from the nozzle. Using the 0 degree tip delivers the higher amount of pressure reaching long distances at a lower GPM. 40 degree tip in the other hand we get lower pressure and higher GPM.

Cleaning Solutions

     The right cleaning solution combined with pressure washer delivers the most effective way to remove mildew and dirt. Depending on the surface to clean is the clean solution to use, bellow it’s shown the solutions we use.

  • Sodium Hypochlorite: Commonly know as bleach is best for removing mildew.

  • Sodium Percarbonate: Combined with water we get oxygen based bleach and sodium carbonate. This is good for mildew and dirt.

  • Oxalic Acid: This is very good when it’s required to make the deck brighter, but it doesn’t clean mildew very well.

Application

   At WY painting, we know what type machine, spray tip and clean solution to use in order to deliver the best result. We move the furniture around so we can clean completely the whole surfaces. We begin the pressure washing applying it at the right distance to the surfaces so we don’t damage such surface and we can get the best result. When it’s about windows, we know how to tackle them with the right spray tip, right distance and right angle to prevent water leak inside the house.
